Squishy Safety & Care Center

Squish Happy. Squish Smart.

At The Squishy Market, we believe squishies should be fun, satisfying, and enjoyed with confidence. Whether you're squeezing your newest favorite, starting a collection, or purchasing a squishy as a gift, a little proper care goes a long way.

This guide covers how to safely enjoy, store, clean, and care for your squishies.

The Golden Rules of Squishy Safety

Squishies are designed to be squeezed—not eaten, heated, punctured, cut, or intentionally broken open.

For the best and safest squishy experience:

  • Never microwave or heat a squishy.
  • Never place a squishy in an oven, air fryer, boiling water, dryer, or near an open flame.
  • Do not intentionally cut, puncture, bite, tear, or open a squishy.
  • Squishies and their contents are not edible. Never consume any part of a squishy.
  • Keep squishies away from sharp objects.
  • Do not use a squishy that is leaking, torn, cracked, or significantly damaged.
  • Keep away from pets and very young children who may bite or swallow parts.
  • Children should use squishies with appropriate adult supervision.
  • Always review any product-specific age recommendations or warnings provided with your squishy.

Squishies + Heat Don't Mix❌🆘

Please NEVER microwave a squishy.

Squishies may contain gels, liquids, foams, beads, glitter, or other materials that are not designed to be heated. Heating a squishy can damage its outer shell, cause the contents to expand, leak, rupture, or become dangerously hot.

That includes trying to warm your squishy because it's cold or attempting to make it softer.

If you want it softer, use your hands—not heat.

How to Clean Your Squishy

Squishies get handled—a lot! Keeping them clean can help them stay looking and feeling their best.

For most washable squishies, gently wipe the exterior using a soft damp cloth with mild soap and cool or lukewarm water.

Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, alcohol-based cleaners, abrasive cleaners, and very hot water unless the product's instructions specifically state otherwise.

Allow your squishy to air dry completely before storing it.

Because materials vary between products, always follow any product-specific cleaning instructions when provided.

How to Store Your Squishies

Treat your collection well and it'll stay looking great for longer.

Store squishies in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Avoid leaving them for extended periods inside hot vehicles, near heaters, on radiators, or anywhere temperatures can become unusually high.

We also recommend keeping squishies away from sharp objects and rough surfaces that could damage their exterior.

For especially soft or sticky squishies, storing them separately can help prevent them from sticking to other toys or surfaces.

Glitter, Beads & Filled Squishies

Some of our most satisfying squishies contain fun fillings such as glitter, beads, gel-like materials, decorative pieces, or other sensory elements.

These fillings are intended to remain inside the squishy.

If the outer material becomes damaged and the filling begins leaking:

Stop using the squishy immediately.

Place the damaged product somewhere children and pets cannot reach it, avoid contact with the exposed contents, clean any affected surfaces, wash hands after handling, and dispose of the damaged item appropriately.

Never intentionally open a filled squishy to explore what's inside.

A Note for Parents & Caregivers

We know parents want products that are both fun and appropriate for their families.

Please remember that not every squishy is appropriate for every age group. Products can vary in size, construction, materials, fillings, and small components.

Always check the individual product's packaging and product page for applicable age recommendations, warnings, and instructions.

Young children should be supervised while playing with squishies, particularly products containing small decorative pieces, beads, or other components that could become accessible if the product is damaged.

Squishies are toys—not food or teethers—and should never be placed in the mouth.

When Should I Replace My Squishy?

Squishies are meant to be squeezed, but like other frequently handled toys, they can eventually show signs of wear.

It's time to retire a squishy if you notice:

Tears • Cracks • Holes • Leaking • Exposed Filling • Significant Material Deterioration

Regularly inspecting frequently used squishies—especially those used by children—is a good habit.

When in doubt, retire the squishy and grab another favorite.

Squish With Confidence

At The Squishy Market, we want the excitement of opening a new squishy to continue long after it arrives.

Most squishy care comes down to a few simple habits:

Keep it cool. Keep it clean. Don't puncture it. Don't put it in your mouth. Never heat it. Replace it when damaged.

Then comes the important part...

SQUEEZE. SMILE. REPEAT.
